Facility Inspections
While we graded this nursing home incredibly poorly overall, it actually earned a relatively impressive government inspection report this year. As a result, it earned one of our better grades in that area with a B. Inspection ratings are tied to many datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key thing to look for on these inspections. You should especially avoid facilities with severe deficiencies associated with endangerment of patients. While this place had some deficiencies on its report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
We were also stunned to discover that this facility received a reasonably solid short-term care grade in our assessment. We gave it a C in that area. In crafting our short-term care ratings, we look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our objective is to devise a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. We found that this nursing home was below average in the two key staffing areas we assessed. The facility provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. It is still important to determine whether this also correlates to a lower quality of care. The final metric we considered in this area is the number of patients that returned home from the facility. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality
This facility's next best category was nursing, but even there it received a grade of just D. This is still a well below average grade. Our nursing grade analyzes many components, many of which are based on nursing hours. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing ratings. This facility fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these statistics to be measures of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
Moving on to our fourth category, this facility really did not perform well in this area either. Due to a poor grade of F in long-term care, this is about as terrible as it gets. Long-term care grades in this range generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. Once we concluded our assessment of the volume of nursing care, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. Frankly, we were a bit concerned this facility vaccinated just 62.676056 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this facility was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had just 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best feature in this category.
