Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this facility also received A+ short-term care grade. Short-term care scores are important for people requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes more highly-skilled nursing. This means a vast scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 6.6 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

This facility also received an A+ inspection grade, making it one of the few facilities to receive multiple A+'s in our category grades. Our inspection scores are based on many datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspections. Facilities that excel in this category typically have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A- in our nursing category. Our nursing category assesses a handful of subcategories, many of which are associated with nursing hours. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The final category we analyzed is long-term care, in which this nursing home was given a B. Believe it or not, this turned out to be this facility's least impressive category. A facility could be doing a lot worse when their worst score still beats out most nursing homes. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in this category it typically means it has plenty of staff and is a quality place to reside on a permanent basis. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia sadly can be a life threatening condition for nursing home patients so we prefer when a facility doesn't leave this to chance. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
