Facility Inspections
Although this place's overall grade was as bad as it gets, it actually fared pretty well in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of B for that area, which is one of our better scores. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection ratings. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be relatively minor. While this facility had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
We also wanted to point out that this nursing home received an F for its nursing grade. Our nursing score is mostly tied to the nursing home's nurse staffing. This particular nursing home averaged just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This number is significantly below average. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term Care Quality
Tragically, this facility received an F for its short-term care score. In computing our short-term care ratings, we scrutinize a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. This rating is considered to be a meaningful measure of a facility's rehabilitation. With its weak rating in this category, we weren't stunned to find this place provided significantly fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most nursing homes. The final datapoint we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients that eventually returned home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 3.9 percent of its residents returning home. This was quite a bit below average.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we analyzed is long-term care. This facility received a very poor grade of F in that area. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary objective is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home vaccinated 96.38009 percent of its patients, which is a very solid percentage. To our surprise, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
