Facility Inspections
While we graded this place incredibly poorly overall, it actually earned a relatively impressive government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our better grades in that category with a B. Our inspection ratings are based on items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these inspections. You should especially avoid nursing homes with severe deficiencies linked to risks to resident well being. While this place had some deficiencies on its report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
Turning to the area of nursing care, this facility received a grade of just D in this category. Unfortunately, this ended up being one of its better grades. Nursing ratings are largely based on a facility's nurse staffing. This particular nursing home offered just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This number is far below average. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. This place performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.

Long-term Care Quality
Sadly, this nursing home's third highest category is long-term care. As it turns out, with a grade of D in this category, it still fared relatively badly. For prospective patients seeking a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are an important measure. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Thankfully, this nursing home vaccinated 98.63014 percent of its patients, which is an above average figure. Surprisingly, this facility also fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
Short-term Care Quality
The final area we graded is short-term care, where this nursing home received an abysmal score here as well. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F for this area, which is obviously very concerning. Our short-term care scores are critical for residents seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means a wide spectrum of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that just 4.4 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
