Facility Inspections
While we graded this place incredibly poorly overall, it actually earned a relatively impressive government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our better grades in that category with a B+. Our inspection ratings are based on items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these inspections. You should especially avoid nursing homes with severe deficiencies linked to risks to resident well being. While this place had some deficiencies on its report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
Turning to the area of nursing care, this facility received a grade of just D in this category. Unfortunately, this ended up being one of its better grades. Nursing ratings are largely based on a facility's nurse staffing. This particular nursing home offered just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This number is far below average. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. This place performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.

Short-term Care Quality
Sadly, this nursing home's third highest category is short-term care. As it turns out, with a grade of D in this category, it still fared relatively badly. With our short-term care rating, we attempt to craft a sound measure for rehabilitation. In doing so, we analyze a nursing home's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Not surprisingly, we learned that this nursing home offers far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than a typical nursing home. The last metric we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents that were able to return home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 4.5 percent of its patients returning home. Unfortunately, this was quite a bit below the national average.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we rated was long-term care, in which this facility received a poor grade in this area also. We gave it an F in this area, which is definitely a major concern. For prospective residents looking for a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Thankfully, this facility administered the vaccine to 96.58793 percent of its patients, which is a very respectable datapoint. Surprisingly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
