In addition to being a respectable nursing home overall, this facility also excelled in the category of inspections, where it received a grade of A-. Few facilities performed better in this category. Our inspection grades are based on items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that score well in this category typically have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This place received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered severe. This indicates that the inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies should not lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.

We also awarded this nursing home a respectable score in the category of short-term care, with a grade of B-. Short-term care scores are critical for people seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically mandates more highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a broad spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. This facility provided more registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most facilities. This is what we like to find when assessing a nursing home in this category. The final datapoint we considered in this area is the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from the nursing home. This place fared respectably with 46.8 percent of its patients returning home.

Another strength of this facility is its favorable grade in nursing. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with an D. When calculating a facility's nursing rating, we weigh the quantity of hours nurses are with patients as well as the levels of training of those nurses. With a meager 3.1 hours of nursing care per patient daily, this place's nurse staffing levels were well below the national average. In addition to receiving below average scores for nursing hours, this facility was less impressive in some of the quality-based measures we looked at in calculating our nursing grades. We looked at the percentage of residents experiencing pressure ulcers and found that this place was at roughly 1.5 times the national average in this metric.

This nursing home's least impressive area is long-term care, which is the final area we scored. For this category, we awarded this facility a grade of just D. In a long-term care environment, the primary goal is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. After assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination record. We were optimistic to find that this facility vaccinated 98.79518 percent of its residents for pneumonia. To our surprise, this nursing home also fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
