In addition to being a strong nursing home overall, it also received A+ health inspections in recent years. Its inspections are nearly flawless. Our inspection ratings weigh a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher scores in this area usually have few of these severe deficiencies. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find information on deficiency's for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

This first-rate facility also performed remarkably in the category of short-term care, where we gave it a grade of A+. Only a small group of nursing homes performed better in this area. Our short-term care grades are thought to be more critical for individuals needing rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation generally mandates more highly-skilled nursing services. This means not only nursing services, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final datapoint we considered in this category is the number of residents who returned home from the facility. We found that 6.8 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Contributing to its high-end assessment, this facility also was awarded an excellent long-term care score, with a score of A. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. One of the criteria we considered on top of nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that this nursing home provided information about vaccinations. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

In our final category, this facility also received an impressive nursing grade, with an A-. This wrapped up an elite report card. There are a host of factors within this area. Many of the factors relate to the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at certain nursing quality measures in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We look at these data points as predictive measures of the caliber of nursing care provided, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
