Facility Inspections
This facility received a quality overall grade as described above, but we especially would like to emphasize its excellent government inspections in recent years. We awarded it an A in this area. These inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.
Nurse Quality
To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this facility a grade of B+ for nursing. Nursing scores are primarily based on the facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home is also strong in the area of short-term care, where it was awarded a grade of B+. It performed better than most nursing homes in this area. In crafting our short-term care scores, we quantify the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The objective is to formulate a barometer for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different facilities. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.1 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we rated was long-term care, is this nursing home's weakest category. We gave this facility a grade of D in this area. This was one of just a couple of dings in an otherwise strong report card. Nursing homes that receive this type of grade in long-term care may not provide the type of consistent 24/7 care that some other facilities offer. After looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 91.44254 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is a few points less than we anticipated but still a decent percentage. To our surprise, this place was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.
