Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home really performed well in the area of long-term care. We gave it an A for that area. In a long-term care setting, the primary objective is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 88.06584 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which happens to be slightly less than we were hoping for but still a decent percentage. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, we were pleased to find facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Facility Inspections
This facility also performed well in inspections. It received one of our highest grades in that area with an A. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection scores. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are quite insignificant. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality
Another strength of this facility is its favorable grade in nursing. We gave them one of our better scores in that area, with an impressive grade of D. Nursing ratings are based largely on levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing scores. This place performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these metrics to be indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility's weakest category was short-term care, which is the final category we scored. We gave it an abysmal F for this area. Despite a few acceptable scores in other areas, this score is still disappointing so we wanted to point it out. In calculating our short-term care scores, we look at the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. This score is generally a solid assessment of the facility's rehabilitation services. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. Lastly, we considered the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This was not a strength for this facility. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. At most facilities, around half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.
