Long-term Care Quality
On top of being a first rate nursing home overall, this nursing home also performed well in our long-term care category, where it earned an A+. Few nursing homes fared better in this category. Nursing homes that do well in this category tend to provide residents with better supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 99.02912 percent of its patients, which is very impressive. Pneumonia is too frequently a life or death ailment for nursing home patients so we like it when a nursing home doesn't leave this to chance. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this facility so favorably is that it was awarded a very impressive short-term care grade. Indeed, short-term care is its second most impressive category grade. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of A. Short-term care scores are based on the nursing home's quantity of skilled nursing services. This includes a broad range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, not to mention other types of therapy. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like this facility provided information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The last datapoint we considered in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that 6.5 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality
In addition, this facility earned high marks in nursing. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that area with a score of A. Our nursing grade focuses on the facility's level of nurse staffing. We look at both the levels of licensure of those nurses and the number of hours spent with residents. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Facility Inspections
Turning to the last category we assessed, this facility received a decent grade in the area of inspections as well. We gave it a B- for that category. Inspection grades weigh a host of factors found on a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. This place was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This means that the inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to pose an immediate risk to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
