Facility Inspections
While we graded this nursing home incredibly poorly overall, it actually earned a very impressive inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our best scores in that area with a grade of A. Our inspection scores are based on pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid facilities that have severe deficiencies associated with endangerment of patients. While this nursing home had some minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
Additionally, we gave this nursing home a rock-bottom F in the area of long-term care. When facilities receive a score in this range in long-term care it generally means the facility didn't perform well in our measures relating to resident care. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination statistics. Frankly, we were a bit alarmed this facility vaccinated 81.390976 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which happens to be several points lower than average. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This was its best feature in this category.

Nurse Quality
In addition, we gave this facility an F in the area of nursing care. The nursing rating includes a handful of factors, most of which are based on quantities of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing grades. This nursing home performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to our last category, this nursing home did not fare very well here either. Due to a rock bottom grade of F in short-term care, this is just about as as uninspiring as it gets. Short-term care grades are based on the facility's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a vast range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, not to mention other types of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we considered the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 3.2 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
