Facility Inspections
The primary reason this turned out to be a decent nursing home is that it received an excellent inspection score. Its inspection grade was far superior to its overall score. In the inspections category, we gave this facility an A. Arguably the most significant factor we look at in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with better scores in this category typically avoided the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's short-term care rating is one of its best features. The facility was given a C in this category. Our short-term care grade is often used to gauge a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To provide quality rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to offer better levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 4.5 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Long-term Care Quality
The next highest category we gave this nursing home in any category came in the category of long-term care, where we awarded it a grade of C. For long-term care residents, the nursing home's primary goal is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 96.21212 percent of its patients. Lastly, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Nurse Quality
Our final category is nursing, in which we gave this nursing home a grade of C in this category. Our nursing rating weighs many factors, many of which are based on nursing hours. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is a relatively low total compared to most facilities. Lastly, we also baked a few quality-based metrics into our nursing grades. This place was relatively weak in a few of the major metrics we look at, with below average scores for minimizing its patients' pressure ulcers and major falls. These areas are often reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care offered.
