While we were not high on this facility overall, we awarded it an A for our inspections rating. This score is significantly more impressive than the nursing home's overall score. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection scores. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these end up being quite minor. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.

The second best area we awarded this nursing home in any area came in the category of long-term care, where we awarded it a grade of C. In a long-term care environment, the nursing home's primary goal is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. Once we concluded our assessment of the volume of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination data. We were pleased to learn that this facility vaccinated 99.402985 percent of its residents for pneumonia. This place was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

This facility's next best category was nursing, but even there it received a grade of just D. This is still a well below average grade. Our nursing grade is based on many components, most of which are based on levels of nurse staffing. This place offered only 3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is well below average. Lastly, we also looked at some quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility was above average in two of the statistics we focus on, with good marks for minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.

Short-term Care Quality

The next category we graded is short-term care. Sadly, it received an F for this category, which is an abysmal grade. Our short-term care ratings are meaningful for individuals requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually utilizes additional highly-skilled nursing. This includes a wide spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. With its grade in this area, we were not stunned to discover that this nursing home is well below average in terms of the quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its residents based on the data we assessed. Lastly, we considered the number of residents that ultimately returned home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. We found that just 45.5 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was below average.
