Facility Inspections
Although we didn't rate this facility favorably overall, we actually gave it an excellent grade in the category of inspections, where it earned an A-. Arguably the most significant factor we look at in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. It is generally in your best interest to avoid facilities that had a long list of severe deficiencies. While this facility had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of C. Nursing ratings are largely associated with the facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility surprisingly fared better in some of the quality measures we looked at. It performed well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is every bit as important as the number of hours of care offered.

Short-term Care Quality
Sadly, we gave this facility an F for its short-term care score. Short-term care grades are crucial for patients seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally mandates higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. This means a vast scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. With a grade this poor for this category, we were not stunned to find that this place was below average in multiple staffing metrics we looked at. In fact, it offered far fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The last metric we considered in this category is the number of residents who eventually returned home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 4 percent of its patients returning home.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to the last category, this facility really didn't fare very well in this category either. Due to a rock bottom grade of F in long-term care, this is really as as uninspiring as it gets. In a long-term care environment, the facility's primary objective is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. After assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 97.26027 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is higher than most nursing homes. To our surprise, this nursing home also keeps its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
