Facility Inspections
This nursing home earned a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to point out its excellent inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A- in this category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection ratings. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be relatively minor. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This means that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple of minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility also was awarded an impressive score in our short-term care category. We awarded this facility a better than average grade of B+ in that category. Our short-term care ratings are vital for residents looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally requires higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. This means a broad spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. We weren't able to find registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. Finally, we looked at the number of residents that ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 6.2 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this nursing home only received a D for its long-term care rating, which is not one of our better scores. For prospective patients seeking a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are an important measure. After assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination records. We were pleased to learn that this facility vaccinated 99.13793 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this place was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
Nurse Quality
Switching gears to our fourth area, we awarded this facility a grade of D in the area of nursing. This was the nursing home's worst category rating. Our nursing score is mostly associated with the facility's level of nurse staffing. This place provided a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. In addition to receiving below average scores for total nursing hours, this facility was less impressive in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at in computing our nursing grades. We looked at the percentage of residents sustaining pressure ulcers and found that this nursing home was at approximately 1.5 times the national average in this metric. This is likely a bad sign when you consider that many bed sores are preventable with better nursing care. This statistic dragged down this facility's nursing rating substantially.
