Facility Inspections

Grade: A

This facility received a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to point out its excellent health inspection reports in recent years. We gave them an A in this category. Our inspection grades account for a host of factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better scores in this area tend to have very few of these severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

One of this nursing home's better category scores was in the category of short-term care. This wound up being its second most favorable category. In that area, we awarded this facility a B-. In the area of short-term care, we seek to evaluate indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We assess a facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. The last datapoint we considered in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Sadly, this facility only earned a D for its long-term care score, which is not an impressive grade. In a long-term care environment, the primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. Once we looked at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 99.48718 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is higher than most nursing homes. Surprisingly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Moving on to the last category, we awarded this facility a D in nursing. This is the nursing home's worst category grade. Our nursing grade assesses the facility's level of nurse staffing. We look at both the levels of training of the nurses and the amount of time spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing grades. This nursing home performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
