Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Although we did not rate this facility favorably overall, we want to point out its nearly flawless inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A in this category. Our inspection ratings are tied to several items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these reports. You should especially avoid nursing homes with severe deficiencies linked to endangerment of patients. This particular nursing home received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This facilities next best area is long-term care. We gave it a grade of C in this category. This is basically a middle of the pack score in this category. In our long-term care assessment, we assess the amount of services provided by a facility, along with some quality datapoints. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Fortunately, this facility gave the vaccine to 97.70642 percent of its residents, which is a very respectable figure. Finally, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Unfortunately, this facility only received a grade of D for its short-term care rating, which is not one of our better scores. Our short-term care grade is often employed to grade a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation To offer quality rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to have better levels of highly skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. Given its grade in this area, we were not surprised to learn that this facility is well below average in terms of its number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the figures we looked at. Finally, we looked at the number of patients that ultimately were able to return home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

The last area we looked at is nursing, in which this facility was given a poor score in this category as well. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F in this category, which is obviously a major concern. Our nursing grade is based on the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We factor in both the levels of licensure of those nurses as well as the amount of time spent with patients. This facility offered a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is an alarmingly low total. Unfortunately, this facility also had abysmal scores in some of the quality-based metrics to pair with its low nursing hours. We looked at the percent of patients sustaining pressure ulcers and we were disappointed. This facility was at roughly 1.5 times the national average in this statistic. This is a bad sign in light of the fact that many bed sores could be avoided with better nursing care. This statistic helped pull down this nursing home's nursing rating quite a bit.
