Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

In addition to being a respectable nursing home overall, this facility really excelled in the category of inspections, where it received an A-. Few facilities performed better in this area. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection scores. One key factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some end up being relatively minor. Although this place had some deficiencies on its report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple of minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home received its second best category grade in the area of short-term care. We awarded this facility a grade of B- in this area, which is a respectable grade. In computing our short-term care grades, we scrutinize a facility's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other licensed professionals. This area is typically a reliable measure of the nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. We were surprised to find that this nursing home was below average in the two key staffing areas we looked at. The facility supplied fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The final metric we considered in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that just 5.1 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home's next best category was nursing. We awarded it a grade of B- in this category. This is basically a middle of the road grade in this category. The nursing grade includes many factors, but the primary one is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This facility averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily, which is well below average. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this place actually performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is typically a good indicator that a facility has quality controls in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The final category we looked at was long-term care. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F in this category, which is a very poor score. This is obviously a significant disappointment. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 99.31271 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
