We want to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home outperformed its overall score in the area of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent inspection report this year. As a result, we gave it one of our highest scores in this category with a grade of A+. Our inspection grades weigh several factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better grades in this category generally have very few severe deficiencies. While this place had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Another strength of this facility is its superb grade in long-term care. We gave it one of our more favorable grades in that category, with a grade of A-. When nursing homes receive this kind of grade in this category it is usually a good sign for resident care and indicates that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses aids. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 97.397766 percent of its patients. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents healthy. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

This nursing home received an F in the category of short-term care. Unfortunately, this is a terrible score. In calculating our short-term care scores, we analyze the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. This grade is typically a solid measure of the facility's rehabilitation services. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The last metric we considered in this category is the number of patients who were able to return home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 4.3 percent of its patients returning home.

Turning to our next area, this facility didn't fare very well. With a bottom of the barrel grade of F in nursing, this is its worst grade. Our nursing rating analyzes the facility's nurse staffing levels. We look at both the levels of training of the nurses and the number of hours spent with residents. We looked at the percentage of residents experiencing major falls and pressure ulcers. This facility had more pressure ulcers and falls than the average nursing home.
