Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home excelled in our shot-term care category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category. When nursing homes receive this kind of grade in long-term care it is typically a good sign for resident care and suggests that the facility is well-staffed with nurses aids. After considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents healthy. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This nursing home also performed well in the category of short-term care, where it received a grade of A. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Our short-term care grade is commonly used to score a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To offer good rehabilitation services, facilities generally must offer higher levels of skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. We weren't able to find information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. The last metric we considered in this category is the number of patients who eventually returned home from the nursing home. We found that 6.2 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A in our nursing category. Nursing grades are largely tied to the facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as having a protocol of turning patients even once per day.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Finally, this nursing home also earned excellent inspections in recent years. We awarded it one of our best scores in that area, with a grade of A-. Few nursing homes earned an A- or better in every category. Inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This facility received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies an imminent risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
