Facility Inspections
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Places with higher scores in this area most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. This place was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This indicates that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to pose an immediate risk to patient safety or health. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
Contributing to this facility's list of strengths, it also received a very favorable short-term care score. We gave them an elite strong of A- in this category. In calculating these short-term care scores, we analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The objective is to create a tool for comparing the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final measure we looked at in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that 5.3 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received a strong nursing score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B in this area. The nursing score weighs several factors, however, the paramount one is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as by employing a system of turning patients more often.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we graded was long-term care. We awarded this facility a C in this area. Long-term care grades are generally used to measure a facility's performance as a traditional nursing home, as opposed to focusing on the skilled nursing services provided by a skilled nursing facility. After looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination statistics. Frankly, we were a bit alarmed this facility vaccinated 86.013985 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which happens to be several points below average. Fortunately, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
