Facility Inspections
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a B- for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. Our inspection ratings are based on many pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these reports. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to patient safety. This nursing home was assessed 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies to cause an imminent risk to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.
Short-term Care Quality
Surprisingly, we awarded this facility a grade of B- for our short-term care grade, which really isn't too bad of a score. In the area of short-term care, we try to qualify measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess a facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and various therapists. We were surprised to find that this place was below average in the two key staffing areas we looked at. It offered fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. It is important to determine whether this is adversely impacting the quality of care. Finally, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 4.9 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Nurse Quality
We were also surprised to find that this facility received a decent nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of C in that category. Nursing scores are heavily correlated with quantity of nursing care available. This facility provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a somewhat uninspiring figure as it is well below average. Finally, while this nursing home got docked a bit for nursing hours, it actually excelled in some of our quality-based measures. With less than five percent of its patients experiencing pressure ulcers, it fared remarkably well in this area.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we rated was long-term care. Sadly, it received an F in this category, which is a bottom of the barrel grade. When facilities receive this type of grade in long-term care it is often a bad sign for resident care and it may indicate that the place is not as well-staffed. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination record. Unfortunately, this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 78.059074 percent of its patients for pneumonia. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.
