Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to receiving a great overall score, this nursing home also received top notch inspections in recent years. We gave it one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of A+. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection grades. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being relatively minor. Fortunately, although this facility had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G through L. This means that CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Adding to its profile, this nursing home also earned a grade of B+ for its long-term care rating. This is an above average grade in this category. Nursing homes that excel in long-term care tend to provide residents with better supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. Once we finished looking at the quantity of nursing care, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 99.37304 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia sadly is often a deadly health condition for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a facility doesn't roll the dice on this issue. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

We also awarded this nursing home a decent score in the area of short-term care, where we gave it a B-. With our short-term care score, we strive to forge a meaningful barometer for rehabilitation. In this process, we look at the nursing home's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final statistic we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients who ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

The next category we graded is nursing. We awarded it a C in that category. This is not a bad grade in this area. Our nursing grade focuses on the facility's level of nurse staffing. We weigh both the levels of licensure of the nurses and the number of hours spent with residents. This nursing home averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Finally, despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this place performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is typically an indicator that a facility has quality controls in place.
