Nurse Quality

Grade: A

In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A. The nursing score is based on several subcategories. The most important variable is the number of hours nurses spent with residents. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Contributing to its strong resume, this nursing home also excelled in our short-term care category. In fact, it received a grade of A for that area. In crafting these short-term care grades, we assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The goal is to devise a barometer for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients who eventually returned home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Turning our next category, we awarded this facility a grade of A- for its long-term care grade. This is a superb score. Facilities that receive this type of score in this category tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure residents are kept in good health. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 93.087555 percent of its residents. This is a bit less than we anticipated but still a respectable figure. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B

Finally, we also gave this nursing home a B for our inspections category. This nursing home didn't have any major weaknesses. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing these inspection grades. One critical factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some are relatively minor. This facility was hit with 6 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to create an imminent risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
