Long-term Care Quality
One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received an A+ long-term care grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this category. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. On top of offering elite levels of nursing care, this nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. This figure is also far higher than most nursing homes. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 1.7 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home.
Facility Inspections
The next category we looked at was inspections, where this facility also received an A+ grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This place was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This tells you that CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies to create an immediate risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
This facility is also strong in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B+. It outperformed most nursing homes in this category. There are many subcategories included in this grade. Many of these datapoints relate to the quantity of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides an incredible 4.5 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is far better than what is offered by most facilities. Lastly, this place also excelled in several quality measures we assessed. With less than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the state in this category.
Short-term Care Quality
The next category we rated was short-term care. This facility was given a better than average short-term care rating in our assessment, with a C. Even though this is not quite as strong as several of its other scores, this is nevertheless a respectable grade in this category. With our short-term care score, we strive to create a meaningful gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we assess a nursing home's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. This nursing home employs both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities employ these skilled professionals. The last datapoint we looked at in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 41.2 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is actually below average.
