While this nursing home's overall grade was decent, it really excelled in the area of nursing. In fact, we gave it an A for that category, which is one of our highest scores. The nursing score analyzes a handful of datapoints, but the paramount consideration is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 3.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

This nursing home also was given a positive short-term care score. Indeed, we awarded them a grade of B in that area, which happens to be one of our better. Short-term care grades are commonly employed to judge a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To offer highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally must provide higher levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. When we assessed this facility's nursing hours, we found it offered more care from registered nurses than most nursing homes. The final datapoint we assessed in this area is the number of residents who eventually returned home from the facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

This nursing home earned a good score in the area of inspections as well. In fact, we awarded it a B- for that category, which is one of our better scores. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing these inspection scores. One critical factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are quite insignificant. This nursing home received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that the inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies to pose an imminent threat to resident health or safety. A couple minor dings aren't something to panic about.

Historical

The last category we assessed is long-term care, which proved to be this nursing home's worst area. We awarded this nursing home a grade of D in that area. Sadly, this category pulled down the facility's overall grade to a certain degree. Nursing homes that don't fare well in long-term care typically are not as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine personal care we assessed. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination records. We were somewhat surprised to discover that this nursing home vaccinated only 77.89116 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this place was actually decent at limiting hospitalizations. While it had 2.4 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, its risk adjusted statistic was not bad since it had more complicated patients. This was its best feature in this category
