Facility Inspections
While this nursing home's overall score was not a highlight, it actually really excelled in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it an A- for that area, which is one of our best scores. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. It is typically in your best interest to avoid facilities that had too many severe deficiencies. While this nursing home had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's next most favorable category is long-term care. We gave it a B- in this category. This is essentially a middle of the pack score in this category. For prospective residents seeking a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We found that this nursing home provided the vaccine to a relatively low 79.15493 percent of its residents, which is well below average. Fortunately, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality
We were stunned to find that this nursing home also excelled in the category of nursing. In fact, we awarded it an impressive grade of D for that category, which is one of our best grades. In determining a facility's nursing rating, we weigh the quantity of hours nurses are with residents and the levels of training of the nurses. This place averaged a meager 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is an alarmingly low total. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing ratings. This place fared well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we analyzed was short-term care. This facility was given a rock bottom grade of F in this area. Our short-term care ratings are probably more important for residents requiring a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally utilizes more highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes not only nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. With a score of this caliber in this category, we weren't stunned to find this facility was below average in the two key staffing areas we looked at. The facility supplied substantially fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most facilities. The last statistic we considered in this category is the number of residents who who were able to eventually return home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 4.5 percent of its patients returning home. This was quite a bit below average.
