Short-term Care Quality
In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home excelled in our shot-term care category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category. Short-term care scores are based on the nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a vast spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final statistic we considered in this category is the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from the nursing home. We found that 5.5 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
Long-term Care Quality
Adding to its high-end profile, this nursing home also performed well in our long-term care area. In fact, we awarded it a score of A- in the area. When facilities receive this type of score in long-term care it is a good sign for patient care and indicates that the facility is well-staffed with nurses and aids. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 99.45652 percent of its residents, which is very impressive. Pneumonia sadly can be a life threatening illness for nursing home residents so we like it when a nursing home does not leave its residents vulnerable. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Facility Inspections
This facility has received near flawless health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A- in this category. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher grades in this category typically avoided the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Unfortunately, this nursing home received a category L deficiency, which is unexpected given its inspection rating. These are the worst type of deficiencies. This category of deficiency indicates inspectors identified a widespread deficiency placing resident safety or health in imminent danger. Even a single deficiency in this category is concerning. In spite of this major red flag, other aspects of this facility's inspection report gave us some hope.
Nurse Quality
The last area we graded is nursing, where this facility was given a grade of B. Although this ended up being its worst category score, this is still a strong score. Our nursing score weighs a variety of subcategories. The most heavily weighted variable is the quantity of hours nurses spend with patients. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
