To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for its nursing grade. The nursing score assesses several components, many of which are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.7 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

This facility also was strong in the category of short-term care, where we gave it a grade of A. Very few nursing homes fared better in this area. In the category of short-term care, we try to evaluate indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We assess a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. This nursing home employs both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities employ these skilled professionals. Finally, we looked at the number of residents who eventually returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.4 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Moving on to our inspection category, this nursing home excelled in that category, which is based on the facility's recent government inspection reports. In fact, we gave it a grade of A for that category. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Places with higher grades in this area typically avoided the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. While this place had a few minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G through L. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor dings aren't necessarily something to panic about.

The final category we rated was long-term care, where this nursing home was given a grade of C. Although this proved to be its worst category score, this is still not a bad grade. In crafting these long-term care scores, we quantify the nursing home's personal care services. One of the factors we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccinations. It doesn't appear that this nursing home submitted data regarding vaccinations. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations.
