Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Although we didn't rate this nursing home favorably overall, we did give it an excellent grade in the category of inspections, where it earned an A. These inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this place had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The next best category we gave this facility in any area came in the category of long-term care, where we gave it a C. In our long-term care grade, we assess the quantity of care provided by a facility, along with a few qualitative metrics. One of the criteria we considered after nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. Frankly, we were a bit alarmed this nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to just 65.28497 percent of its residents. Fortunately, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

This facility ended up receiving rock bottom score in our nursing category. It received an F in this category. Our nursing grade analyzes several factors, many of which are tied to nursing hours. This nursing home averaged just 0.2 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is an alarmingly low total. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing ratings. This nursing home fared well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The last category we assessed was short-term care. This nursing home received a poor grade of F in this area. In computing our short-term care grades, we size up the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. This score is often a solid measure of the nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. As you might expect, we learned that this place provides far less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than the typical nursing home. The last item we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients who ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 4.2 percent of its patients returning home. This was quite a bit below the national average.
