Grade: A

On top of earning a great overall grade, this facility fared even better in the area of inspections which is associated with the nursing home's recent government inspection reports. We awarded it an A for this category, which is one of our best scores. Inspection ratings are tied to several items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this area tend to have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home also received a strong long-term care score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B+ in this area. Long-term care grades of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. After considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents out of the hospital. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The final category we assessed was short-term care. This nursing home received a C in the area. Our short-term care grades are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a broad scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final item we assessed in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that just 3.8 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is below average.
