Awards
Registered Staff Hours
Long-term Care Quality
In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home performed well in the area of long-term care. In fact, we awarded it an A for that category. For prospective patients seeking a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. One of the factors we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours was vaccines. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 91.17647 percent of its patients. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Facility Inspections
Adding to this facility's impressive resume, we awarded this nursing home an A for our inspections rating. Arguably the most important factor we look at in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher grades in this category most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This tells you that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality
To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. We scrutinized the qualifications of nurses at the nursing home, in addition to the quantity of time the nurses worked with patients, in determining our grade in this category. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we assessed is short-term care, where this facility was given a grade of A-. This topped off a very impressive profile. Few facilities received an A- or better in in each area we assessed. In the area of short-term care, we try to assess indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We look at a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
