One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received an A+ in short-term care. This is as good as it gets in this category. Short-term care grades are often employed to judge a nursing home's rehabilitation services. To have quality rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to feature higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 7 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

This facility also received an A+ inspection score, making it one of the rare facilities to receive multiple A+'s in our categories. This score is based on the place's inspection reports. Inspection scores account for a host of factors included in a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher scores in this category typically have few of these severe deficiencies. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A. When determining a nursing home's nursing rating, we consider the amount of time nurses are with patients as well as the skill levels of those nurses. This particular nursing home provided 0.9 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Switching gears to the next area, this nursing home also performed well in our long-term care category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A in that area. This wrapped up a straight A report card. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. After looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination statistics. We weren't able to track down this place's vaccination data. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
