One of the many reasons this place turned out to be a great nursing home is it received an A+ in our inspections category. This is as good as it gets in this area. Our inspection scores are tied to datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this category typically have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This facility was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe. This indicates that the inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies to be an imminent threat to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

We also gave this facility a grade of A+ for its short-term care grade. In calculating our short-term care grades, we size up the nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This grade is generally a reliable assessment of a facility's ability to rehabilitate patients. Fortunately, this nursing home offers both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities offer both. The last datapoint we assessed in this category is the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 7.4 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

The third area we analyzed was long-term care. Adding to its first-rate resume, this nursing home also performed well in that area. In fact, it received a grade of of A in that category. For prospective residents seeking a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are an important measure. One of the datapoints we considered after nurse's aid hours was vaccines. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this facility provided data regarding vaccinations. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

In our last category, we gave this facility a grade of A+ for its nursing rating. This completed a very impressive profile. Our nursing score is primarily based on the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.9 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed certain nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We look at these data points as good measures of the caliber of nursing care offered, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
