Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. Inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. In spite of this deficiency, this nursing home still received a relatively positive inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
We gave this facility a grade of just D for our long-term care rating and that actually wound up as its next highest category. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 91.8429 percent of its patients. This is slightly below what we were hoping for but still a decent figure. To our surprise, this place actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had just 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.

Nurse Quality
This facility's next best category was nursing, but even there it received a grade of just D. This is still a well below average grade. Our nursing category assesses several subcategories, many of which are tied to quantities of nurse staffing. This place offered a meager 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is an alarmingly low total. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing scores. This nursing home fared well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we scored was short-term care, in which this facility was given an abysmal grade in this category also. We gave it a lowly F for this category, which is obviously a major disappointment. Our short-term care scores are based in part on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a broad scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. With its grade in this category, we were not stunned to learn that this facility is well below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the metrics we looked at. Frankly, this was about what we expected to find. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.2 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
