Registered Staff Hours
Facility Inspections
This nursing home earned a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to point out its nearly flawless inspection reports in recent years. We gave them an A in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection ratings. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are relatively minor. While this facility had a few deficiencies on its report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in the industry.
Short-term Care Quality
In addition, we also would like to note that this nursing home was awarded favorable short-term care marks in this assessment. We awarded them one of our more impressive grades in this area, with a B. This turned out to be the facility's second strongest score. Our short-term care grade is generally used to score a nursing home's rehabilitation services. To provide highly rated rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to provide better levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. It does not appear that this facility submitted registered nurse or physical therapist staffing data. Finally, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.1 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home's next best category was nursing. We awarded it a grade of B- in this category. This is basically a middle of the road grade in this category. When determining our nursing grades, we analyze both nursing hours and the training levels of those nurses. This facility averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day, which is not an impressive total. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility fared better in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. It performed well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
Long-term Care Quality
Our next area is long-term care, where we gave this facility a grade of C in this category. In computing our long-term care scores, we assess the facility's personal care services. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination data. Candidly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this nursing home vaccinated just 89.03509 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Fortunately, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
