Registered Staff Hours
Short-term Care Quality
This facility received a strong overall grade as described above, but we especially wanted to note its excellent short-term care grade. We awarded them an A in this category. Our short-term care scores are considered to be most important for individuals requiring rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation generally requires higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not just nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last statistic we considered in this category is the number of residents that returned home from the nursing home. We found that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
Nurse Quality
We also awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our nursing grade. Our nursing rating consists of many factors, but the main consideration is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place Washington in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as having a system of moving residents at least once a day.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility received its third most favorable category grade in the category of long-term care. We awarded this nursing home a B- in this area, which is a respectable grade. In crafting our long-term care grades, we analyze the nursing home's ability to maintain its permanent residents' health and quality of life. After looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is more than the majority of nursing homes. This place also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Facility Inspections
Finally, we looked at this facility's inspection grade This did not end up being one of this facility's stronger grades. We gave it a C in this area. This isn't a horrible score in this category. It simply wasn't as favorable as some of this place's other category grades. We would argue that one of the most critical factors in assessing an inspection report is deficiencies. In this regard, we especially look at the severity of the deficiencies. This nursing home was hit with 6 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but fortunately none were in any of the categories labeled G through L. This indicates this facility dodged the more ominous classes of deficiencies. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received significant government fines in recent years.
