Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of being a strong nursing home overall, this facility also excelled in the area of inspections, where it received an A+. Few nursing homes fared better in that area. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection grades. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are relatively insignificant. While this place had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in the industry.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home also received a favorable long-term care score. In fact, we awarded it an above average score of B+ in this category. If you are looking for anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care scores. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 91.81494 percent of its patients. This is somewhat less than we anticipated but still a reasonably acceptable figure. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next highest grade we gave this nursing home came in the category of nursing, where we gave it a grade of B-. This wasn't quite as good as some of its other scores, but a grade in this range is not the end of the world. Our nursing grade is based on numerous factors. The most important one is the number of hours nurses spent with patients. This facility averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient daily, which is well below average. Finally, although this place got docked a bit for nursing hours per resident, it excelled in a few of our quality-based measures. With fewer than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it fared remarkably well in this metric.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

Turning to our next category, this facility was given a respectable short-term care grade of C. Our short-term care grades are crucial for individuals seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a broad range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, we were not able to find registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this nursing home. Lastly, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 4.9 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.
