Nurse Quality

Grade: A

In addition to being a quality nursing home overall, this facility really excelled in the area of nursing, where it received an A. When computing our nursing ratings, we analyze both nursing hours and the training levels of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Among this nursing home's other accomplishments is its elite short-term care grade. It received one of our more favorable grades in that category, with a grade of A-. In crafting our short-term care grades, we quantify the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our goal is to create a measure for sizing up the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the number of residents who who were able to eventually return home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

In addition, this facility also performed well in our inspection category, which is based on the facility's recent inspection reports. We awarded it an impressive grade of B+ for that category, which is among our best scores. Our inspection grades are tied to datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this area typically have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspections are rare in the industry.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Moving on to our next area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of D for our long-term care category. This was the facility's least impressive category grade. Nevertheless, you should not dwell on a single poor grade. In a long-term care environment, the primary goal is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. After we finished assessing the amount of nursing care, we next considered the facility's vaccination records. We were optimistic to learn that this facility vaccinated 99.33111 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
