Although we did not have many favorable things to say about this place's overall grade, it earned a respectable inspection report this year. It received a decent score in this category with a B-. Inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.

We also awarded this facility a grade of B- for our nursing rating. Our nursing rating is largely tied to a nursing home's nurse staffing. This facility provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is a somewhat concerning figure as it is well below the national average. Lastly, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics. Although this facility got docked a bit for its nursing hours, it actually excelled in a few of these quality-based metrics. With fewer than five percent of its patients experiencing pressure ulcers, it fared well in this statistic. This is typically a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as having a policy of turning a patient more frequently.

We also gave this facility a middle of the pack score in the category of long-term care, where we awarded it a grade of B-. For long-term care residents, the nursing home's primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. Once we assessed the volume of nursing care, we turned to the facility's vaccination statistics. We were optimistic to learn that this facility vaccinates 99.68354 percent of its patients for pneumonia. This facility also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

The next category we assessed is short-term care. Sadly, it received an abysmal F in this category, which is a very poor score. With our short-term care grade, we attempt to create a meaningful measure for rehabilitation. In this process, we analyze a nursing home's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. With its score in this area, we were not surprised to learn that this facility is well below average in terms of the quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the metrics we looked at. Honestly, this was what we expected here. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This definitely wasn't a strength for this facility. We found that just 3.2 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, around half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.
