While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of B- in that category. Our nursing rating looks at the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We consider both the levels of licensure of the nurses and the amount of time spent with residents. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility surprisingly excelled in some of the quality measures we assessed. It scored well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.

This nursing home's next best score is short-term care, but it still received just a D in that category. This still happens to be a well below average score. In forming these short-term care grades, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our objective is to formulate a scale for comparing the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Finally, we assessed the number of patients that who were able to eventually return home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.3 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Sadly, this nursing home only received a D for its long-term care score, which is not one of our better scores. Facilities that don't fare well in this category typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine medical care we looked at. Once we concluded our assessment of the quantity of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination data. We were a bit bothered by the fact that this facility vaccinated just 82.38994 percent of its patients against pneumonia. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best feature in this category.

Moving on our last area of inspections, this facility received an F in this area. Since this data is collected by government inspectors, we heavily weight poor results in this area. When a place has this bad of an inspection score, you should expect some severe deficiencies on its inspection report. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to resident safety. This particular facility had 4 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only positive thing we can say is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that indicate they created a threat to resident safety or health. Lastly, we need to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home received large government fines of more than $50,000. This typically indicates that government inspectors grew tired after several years of failed health inspections.
