Long-term Care Quality
We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility earned an impressive grade of A in our long-term care category. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. Once we finished looking at the volume of nursing care, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 99.46809 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia tragically can be a life threatening illness for nursing home residents so we strongly prefer when a facility doesn't leave this to chance. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Facility Inspections
Adding to this nursing home's impressive resume, we awarded this nursing home an A for inspections. Inspection grades account for several factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher grades in this category typically have few severe deficiencies. This nursing home received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to create an immediate risk to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality
Among its many impressive grades, this facility received an excellent nursing grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that category. The nursing score assesses a handful of factors, but the paramount consideration is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
The next area we rated was short-term care. This facility received a favorable nursing rating this year, with a B. Although this is not nearly as elite as many of its other scores, this remains one of our better grades in this area. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our purpose is to create a measure for sizing up the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last datapoint we assessed in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
