Facility Inspections
Although this place's overall grade was terrible, it actually performed well in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a B+ for that category, which is one of our better scores. Our inspection scores are tied to many pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key thing to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid facilities that have severe deficiencies linked to endangerment of patients. While this nursing home had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G through L. This tells you that CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
We were also surprised to find that this facility received a decent nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of C in that category. Our nursing score is mostly associated with the facility's nurse staffing. This place provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a lower figure than we were hoping for. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility actually fared better in some of the quality measures we looked at. In fact, it performed well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.

Long-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this facility received an F for its long-term care grade. Long-term care ratings in this range generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids. Once we assessed the amount of nursing care, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination statistics. Candidly, we were a bit concerned this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 71.04478 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.05 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.
Short-term Care Quality
The next category we scored is short-term care. This nursing home was given a rock bottom grade of F in this area. With our short-term care category, we attempt to create a fair measure for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess a nursing home's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. As you might expect, we discovered that this facility offers significantly less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than the typical nursing home. The last statistic we looked at in this category is the number of residents who ultimately returned home from the facility. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 2.2 percent of its residents returning home. Unfortunately, this was well below average.
