Grade: B-plus

This nursing home's best category grade came in the category of government inspections. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a B+. It actually outperformed most nursing homes in this category. Arguably the most significant factor we look at in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities with better grades in this category typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. This nursing home was assessed 6 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies to cause an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies shouldn't stop you from considering a nursing home.

Short-term Care Quality

This nursing home was awarded its second most favorable category score in the category of short-term care. We awarded this nursing home a grade of B- in this area, which is a decent grade. With our short-term care score, we seek to forge a meaningful barometer for rehabilitation. In this process, we analyze the facility's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. We found that this facility was below average in the two key staffing areas we looked at. It supplied fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The final datapoint we considered in this category is the percentage of residents that ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that just 4.1 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

This facility's next best category was its nursing grade, where it received a grade of C. In calculating a facility's nursing score, we weigh the quantity of hours nurses are caring for residents and the levels of training of those nurses. This facility provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a somewhat alarming figure which is well below the national average. Finally, although this facility got dinged a bit for its nursing hours, it actually excelled in a few of our quality-based metrics. With fewer than five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it fared remarkably well in this subcategory.

Switching gears to our fourth area, this nursing home did not perform well. With an abysmal grade of F in long-term care, this is its poorest category grade. For prospective patients in need of a permanent place to live rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 96.26168 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this place also fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
