Facility Inspections
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Inspection grades account for several factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better scores in this area usually have few of these severe deficiencies. While this place had a few deficiencies on its report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility received a favorable long-term care grade as well. We awarded it one of our higher grades in that category with a grade of B+. Nursing homes that do well in this category typically provide residents with closer supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. After we finished assessing the amount of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia is too frequently a life threatening illness for nursing home residents so we prefer when a facility does not roll the dice on this issue. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
The next area we scored is nursing, in which this nursing home received a B-. This was this facility's worst area. This is nevertheless a middle of the pack score. Our nursing grade is based on many factors. The most important variable is the amount of time nurses spent with patients. This place provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is a lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, our nursing ratings also factor in some quality-focused measures. We like to look at the percent of patients who suffered pressure ulcers and major falls.
