Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the many reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with higher scores in this category most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. We were not able to find information about this nursing home's deficiencies. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This facility also received a impressive long-term care score. This actually turned out to be its second most impressive category grade. In that area, this facility received a score of A. When facilities receive this kind of grade in this category it is a good sign for patient care and indicates that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses and aids. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 96.95122 percent of its patients, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia sadly is often a life or death illness for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a facility doesn't take any chances. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category. There are many factors within this grade. Most of these datapoints reflect the quantity of nurse staffing. This facility provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as employing a protocol of turning a resident more often.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

In the last category we rated, this nursing home was awarded a very strong grade of A in our short-term care category. With this score, the facility rounded out a straight A profile. In computing our short-term care scores, we analyze a facility's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other types of therapists. This score is frequently a reliable assessment of a facility's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.8 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
