The main reason this nursing home received a decent overall grade is its impeccable government inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our better grades in that area, with an A. This is a much better score than the facility's overall grade, which was decent but not in the elite range. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing our inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these can be relatively minor. While this place had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

This facility's next best category grade came in the area of nursing. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of C. Our nursing rating analyzes the facility's level of nurse staffing. We look at both the levels of licensure of the nurses as well as the amount of time spent with residents. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This figure is far below the national average. Lastly, we also looked at several nursing quality measures. While this place got docked a bit for its nursing hours, it excelled in a few of these quality-based measures. With fewer than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it did very well in this subcategory. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as employing a protocol of moving a patient at least once a day.

The last category we graded is short-term care. It received a lowly F in this area, which is a bottom of the barrel score. This is obviously a significant concern.
