Nurse Quality

Grade: B

This facility's best category score came in the area of nursing. In that area, we gave this nursing home a grade of B. It actually outperformed most nursing homes in this category. Nursing scores are based largely on quality and quantity of nursing care. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B

This facility's second best category grade came in the area of government inspections. In that category, we gave this facility a B. It actually outperformed most facilities in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing these inspection grades. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these are relatively minor. While this nursing home had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home's third best category turned out to be its short-term care grade, where it was given a grade of B-. Short-term care ratings are critical for residents requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally mandates additional highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means a broad range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this facility provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients that eventually returned home from this facility. We found that 4.2 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was well below the national average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

Switching gears to the last category, this nursing home was awarded a C in long-term care, which is generally a decent grade. Our long-term care scores are based on the facility's quantity of nursing care. This includes a broad scope of personal care services, ranging from assistance with activities of daily living to routine medical services. One of the criteria we considered after nursing hours is vaccinations. Thankfully, this facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to 94.75309 percent of its patients. Lastly, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
