Short-term Care Quality
Adding to its strong profile, this nursing home also excelled in our short-term care category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for the category. Our short-term care ratings are likely most important for individuals needing rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation usually utilizes higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes not just nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. We were pleased to find that this nursing home employs both registered nurses and physical therapists. The same can't be said for all nursing homes. The last measure we considered in this area is the percentage of patients who ultimately returned home from the nursing home. This proved to be more of a strength for this facility. This place fared as well as just about any nursing home in Georgia with 68.2 percent of its residents returning home.

Long-term Care Quality
Turning to the next category, this nursing home also received a score of B+ for its long-term care rating. This is an above average grade in this category. Nursing homes that receive this type of score in this category tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure residents are kept in good health. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 98.9011 percent of its residents. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents healthy. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 1.32 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home.
Moving on to the fourth area, this facility was awarded an acceptable nursing score. Even though this is not nearly as dominant as a few of its other grades, this is still not a terrible score. The nursing grade assesses many subcategories, but the most important consideration is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This place provides 3.9 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is better than average. In calculating our nursing scores, we add additional weight to hours performed by more highly skilled nurses such as registered nurses. Finally, this nursing home was relatively weak in some of the major data points we focus on, with subpar scores for minimizing its patients' pressure ulcers and major falls.
