Registered Staff Hours
This nursing home received a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to emphasize its excellent health inspections in recent years. We gave them an impressive grade of A- in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection grades. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these end up being relatively insignificant. While this place had some deficiencies on its report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. We should note that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in the industry.
One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. In fact, nursing turned out to be its second best category grade. In that category, we awarded this facility an B. We analyzed the skill-level of nurses employed by the nursing home, as well as the quantity of time the nurses were with patients, in computing our grade in this category. This facility provides an impressive 3.9 hours of nursing care per patient daily. Out of this total, nearly one fourth of the hours were provided by registered nurses, which is among the most highly skilled levels of nurses. Finally, this place also performed well in several of the quality measures we assessed. In terms of the percentage of its patients sustaining falls leading to major injury, this place performed better than the national average.

Short-term Care Quality
Additionally, we awarded this nursing home a B in our short-term care category. This happens to be one of our more impressive scores. In our short-term care score, we try to craft a meaningful gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we look at the facility's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. One of this place's strengths is registered nurse hours. We found that it provides more care from registered nurses than most nursing homes. The last item we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that 40.4 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
Long-term Care Quality
Our last area is long-term care, where we awarded this facility a grade of C in that area. With our long-term care assessment, we look at the quantity of services offered by a nursing home, along with a few quality data points. In addition to assessing the very respectable volume of care provided by aids and other staff at this nursing home, we also were pleased by the facility's record for vaccinations. This facility gave the pneumonia vaccine to 97.9021 percent of its patients, which is above average. This combination proved to be effective as this place was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Although it had 1.94 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, its risk adjusted metric was better than most nursing homes due to it having some more complicated patients.
